About Us
ACCWA was established in 1979 by Steve Couacaud; Steve's four American cars parked on his front lawn were a magnet for people looking to source parts or get tips on fixing their own American cars. Steve placed an advert in the newspaper and formed the club on the fourth of July, 1979.
As of June 2025, the club has 160 members, owning the full spectrum of American vehicles, from Peter Jingryd's 1933 Ford Streetrod through to current model Mustangs and Comaros. Our members even have a surprising number of Holdens and Aussie Fords - everyone with a passion for cars are welcome!
ACCWA is a member of the Council of Motoring Clubs WA. CMCWA serves as a unified voice for motoring enthusiasts, liaising with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and the community to: - promote the responsible enjoyment of motor vehicles, - encourage the affiliation and closer relationship of motoring clubs, and - represent the common interests of members in dealings with elected officials and organizations. This advocacy ensures that the interests of historic vehicle owners are considered in policy and regulatory decisions.
ACCWA is a Department of Transport (DoT) approved historic motoring club. This, along with our membership to CMCWA allows our members to access the concessional licensing schemes.
ACCWA is a member of the West Australian Street Machines Association (WASMA), whose mission is "to provide a united voice for all WA Street Machine Clubs and Enthusiasts and promote the Street Machine culture across our great state." Refer to www.wasma.org.au
